Inclusive therapy and counseling for BIPOC individuals in Los Gatos, Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley
In recent years, heightened attention has been brought to the stressors faced by Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. BIPOC-identifying individuals may be experiencing heightened fear, anger and grief at this time. We have a team of dedicated, diverse and inclusive therapists at TherapyWorks to support BIPOC-identifying individuals seeking support for mental health concerns and/or coping with race-related stressors.
While People of Color (POC) have similar rates of mental health disorders to caucasians, these disorders are more likely to last longer and result in more significant disability for POC. Most mental illness goes untreated, especially in communities of color. 52% percent of Whites with a mental illness received mental health services in 2020, compared to 37.1% of Blacks and 35% of Hispanics.
Mental health problems can be both the cause and result of difficulties in BIPOC-identifying individuals.
