By engaging in family counseling with a TherapyWorks therapist or psychologist, your family will have the opportunity to explore, express and better understand one another’s feelings, while also learning new skills to better manage thoughts and behaviors.  The goals of family counseling are to have the therapy experience become a catalyst for positive change and opportunities to improve family functioning so that each member can learn and grow both in and out of the therapy session.

Family therapy is a special form of psychotherapy that focuses on changes within a family, and recognizes that family relationships have an impact on the feelings, behavior and psychological adjustment of every family member. Instead of meeting with one individual, all or most family members are involved in the family counseling process. In blended families, the family counselor may include stepparents, step-siblings and half-siblings.

Handling Family Stress & Conflict

Every family and relationship has conflicts. In some families, differences and conflicts are a serious problem. Kids learn to deal with conflict in the family and use the same behaviors in their relationships with their peers.
